| Curfew |
 |
|
‘Prohibiting the movement of people at night after a certain time’…. Originally from the French going back hundreds of years meaning ‘The time to Put out the fires’. So what does ‘Curfew’ mean for two young guys writing and performing awesome pop tunes? Not much – They just like the sound of it. |
Nick Hardcastle and Lindsay Rimes first collaborated in 2001, after being introduced at a really boring party on Sydney’s lower north Shore.
Nick had had some success as a singer, what with the ‘Jellybean Team’ record of 1999 and all of those cover band gigs, but was best known as an actor for his roles on Home and Away, All Saints, Nickleodeon, various theatrical productions and that Chatswood Chase ad that you think is a movie trailer but really isn’t and had that guy from Blue Heelers in it…
Lindsay, A multi-instrumentalist, had been playing piano for years and had just taught himself to play guitar and his sisters left handed bass upside down. He was facing the decision of whether to pursue a professional Rugby career or consolidate on his burgeoning musical repertoire that already included such potential hits as ‘Big Red Truck’.
The Guys hit it off straight away and began writing hits from the first day in Lindsay’s recording studio. Both Nick and Lindsay initially recorded their own work and played their own gigs. Nick performed some of their collaborations in London where Kabaret live said ‘ London's music scene enjoyed yet another invasion from OZ when former soap-star of Home and Away, Nick Hardcastle, made his debut at Boujis-Live last Tuesday. Nick seduced the crowd with his soulful voice and hooky guitar pop, and left everyone wishing they could spend the rest of their lives in some sunny corner of his homeland being serenaded by this promising new talent. ’
In September 2003 Nick and Lindsay they made their debut performance as a duo at the Empire Hotel for ‘PopStuds’, where Lindsay’s mum said ‘It was obvious that their combination was a winning formula. I love my son!’.
With Nick hosting the popular ABC Kids show ‘Creature Features’ and both Nick and Lindsay having a strong affection for the great sounds of the Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Monkees and heaps of other bands that start with ‘The’, they set about creating a sound that was upbeat and positive and immediately infectious. The result is a collection of songs that cross the generation gap.
Lindsay continues to write and produce tracks for Artists such as Popstars winner and runner-up Kayne Taylor and Miranda Murphy, Anita Spring, Catherine Sgambellone of ‘My Restaurant Rules’, Anthony Snape and Vanessa Kelly. However, his current bout of RSI is largely due to the hard work he’s putting in right now at the desk as the boys produce their debut album. The first single is due to be lifted from it in February 2005.
It’s time for Curfew. Get ready to rock – just be careful you don’t hurt yourself…

| Vanessa Kelly |

At a mere 5 feet, a tiny frame and angelic face, suggest nothing of the strength, soul and size of the voice belonging to Vanessa Kelly.
With an effortless ability to cross genres from pop, rock and soul to soaring acapella harmonies and Broadway showstoppers, it is little wonder that Vanessa has had such diverse experiences and influences, all of which she brings to her original material. |
Vanessa’s stunning live performances and original songs have gained attention from the likes of Guy Chambers (producer and collaborator of Robbie Williams) who flew her to London to sing in band he was producing.
Vanessa is currently fronting her own band now called “RUBY” an amazing guitar driven, in your face, epic sounding 5 piece. Vanessa is in the studio with producer Lindsay Rimes recording the bands debut album. - GO BACK

Anthony Snape is not just a pretty face. An electric presence an enormous voice and a skilled songwriter, Anthony had the presence to see a musical dead end for him in spite of the lure of pop stardom when he turned his back on a boy band to hone his craft in pubs and auditoriums across Australia. 4 years later, the Rising Star winner has earned a reputation for his powerful live shows and his honest, melodic and incredibly satisfying blend of guitar driven pop and rock.

| Anita Spring |
 |
|
She’s a remarkable new Australian pop talent, but nowhere in Anita Spring’s professional past is there a television soap, just one fact that sets her apart from many of this countries debutante pop princesses. |
Another point of difference is that Anita has already had her 21st birthday. Her musical journey has taken the proverbial long and winding road of hard work to improbable Xanadu of overnight success and, having experienced adult life, she also actually has something to say.
Like her cabaret performer parents before her, Anita Spring’s passion for music has taken her around the country and the globe doing what she says is the only thing she was ever good at, singing. Her mother claims her first words were sung, by two she was singing in front of a big band and by the age of twelve she had her first professional gig, touring with a musical, but the journey has been far from first class and five star. The Cronulla local has done it the hard way, from performing at Australia’s Wonderland whilst working her way though high school to performing a touring version of Grease all over the kingdom of Thailand.
The path to pop begun for Spring nearly seven years ago, when she joined Chris Bailey and Doc Neeson (of The Saints and The Angels respectively) in the rock musical Bad Boy Johnny. Working in the chorus, Anita met Christine Anu, who was about to release her first album. Anu asked the then 17-year-old to join her on a national tour and it was on this tour, performing with Anu and watching her work on new material that Spring realised that her destiny lay in pop music.
After returning from the tour Anita started recording her demo tape, whilst still working on different entertainment jobs to make ends meet and it was to be another supporting role that would help her take a step closer to centre stage. Supporting Powderfinger as they performed “Passenger”‚ at the 2000 ARIA awards, Anita was noticed by the President of Universal Music and almost immediately offered a record deal.
Anita Spring has spent the first couple of years of the 21st century preparing for the release of her debut single and album, shuttling back and forth between London and Sydney. Recorded and written with the help of former Escape Club members Trevor Steel and John Holliday (look out for Anita’s cover of Wild Wild West on the album), Anita describes her music as real but uplifting guitar-pop that has been inspired only from her own emotions and experiences.
Her first single, Blink (Stay A Little Longer), is a great example of what happens when a beautiful, yearning pop melody meets a voice to match and heralds the arrival of a true talent in the charts. Have a listen and you’re sure to agree.

| Lipspeed |

Who's been laying down a thick wall of guitar sound since 2000? Sydney's Lipseed. This colourful, "romping, raucous, rock outfit" (Drum Media), have been ripping up the Sydney live scene for 3 years, performing their explosive live shows and recording two independently released singles, 2001's "Kessma" and 2004's "Shock to my system". |
Made up of members from Hang Seng, Dogbuoy and Danny Wax, Lipseed mix guitar rock (think Foo-Fighters and Janes Addiction), with an irresistible, catchy pop element (think Blondie meets The Yeah Yeah Yeah's), making this unsigned Sydney outfit "one of the hottest live acts in Australia" (Clubblink Promotions). Lipseed's recent live performances in Melbourne, Canberra and Armidale have seen their latest single "Shock to My System", produced and mixed by Lindsay Rimes, completely sell out and receive airplay on JJJ. Their unique songwriting has afforded such tunes as "Hyperchickerlater" and the "Johnny Farnham Song", cult status.
Led by the gorgeous and extraordinary lead vocalist and bass wielding banshee, Felicity Reynolds, this independent Sydney 4 piece takes you to the dizzy heights of rhythmic rock-riff perfection with Dylan Hartas and Gavin Waring on guitars and Karl Vandeluer on drums. | Glasgow and the Fourth Wall |
 |
|
Glasgow and the Fourth Wall’s live sound crosses Sting with Led Zeppelin then ignites into a myriad of colors with a splash of Beck. Glasgow’s gentle, whiskey and warm milk voice delivers his inspired and original lyrics with an unpretentious emotion and honesty. |
Glasgow is surrounded by choice players. Dylan Hartas unleashes his guitar sound with a deep as South feeling for the blues while Lindsay Rimes glues the songs together with Rhodes and Hammond Keyboard sounds. Glen Schollum smartly crafts his hi-fi bass waves that roll into the modern and mystic beats of Chris Fields drumming.
Most of the players connected in 1993 on the North Coast of NSW and have played in various bands together and apart including Dogbouy, Potbelly and Ulterior, which appeared on the compilation ”Compost”, and toured the East Coast with Triple J airplay.
Glasgow and the Fourth Wall have just released their debut EP titled Broad, produced and mixed by Lindsay Rimes.

Crafty song writing crammed with commercial pop hooks is what singer/songwriter Jonny Gardiner does best. Having written with the likes of ex-Noiseworks / INXS lead man, Jon Stevens, and Sony artist, Charlton Hill, it’s little wonder that Jonny is taking the next step in his career releasing his debut 11-track rock/pop solo album produced by emerging production talent Lindsay Rimes.
